5th Annual Rockin’ in Quartzsite!

A Celebration of the Arts – Quartzsite Style!

Dec. 4, 2013 - Quartzsite, AZ –Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite (PNQ) invites the public to a most unique Public Art Event, called “Rockin’ in Quartzsite! A Celebration of the Arts”.

Quartzsite is known worldwide for its rocks and shows. On Dec. 8, 2009, Acting Mayor Wes Huntley, proclaimed Quartzsite, Arizona, the Rock Capital of the World. Expanding on this popular theme, local and regional artists transformed simple pieces of flagstone slabs into one-of-a-kind “Rock Art Pieces”. Rockin' in Quartzsite Public Art Event is held through March 7th, 2014. 

Local businesses sponsor Rock Art Pieces for the busy winter season. Locals and visitors alike will find themselves looking for the Rock Art Pieces throughout town, using a “Rockin’ in Quartzsite” Map published in Desert Messenger, bringing folks from one end of town to the other. At each location, people can vote for their favorite Rock Art Piece for the People’s Choice Award!

Then as part of The GRAND Gathering, PNQ will hold a live “Rock Auction” Saturday, March 8, 2014 to find permanent homes for the “Rock Art Pieces” and the People’s Choice Award will be announced. The Auction will take place at Quartzsite Town Park during The GRAND Gathering Senior Fair events. 

This event benefits local organizations, businesses, and the Quartzsite community! Come to the Rock Capital of the World and see what’s going on! Be sure to save the date March 8th, 2014 for The GRAND Gathering Senior Fair and Rock Auction!

Artists wanted for the upcoming 2012- 2013 

Rockin' in Quartzsite ~ A Celebration of the Arts!

Artists will paint from October 20th thru Nov. 2nd at the "Rock Motel", 100 E. Kuehn in Quartzsite. Hours to paint are from 9am - 1pm Monday through Friday with weekend by appointment.

Rockin' Reveal Artist Reception will be held 

Saturday, November 3, 2012

 at the "Rock Motel" (a beautifully transformed warehouse) 

at Tyson Wells Showground, 100 W. Kuehn, Quartzsite.

Here is your chance to meet the artists 

who will have spent the previous two weeks 

painting and transforming a blank slab of rock into the most amazing Rock Art Piece! 

No peeking until Saturday, Nov. 3rd!

The Theme for this year's event is "Our Beautiful Arizona".

"Foster Parents" sponsor the Rock Art during the winter season, November thru February. 

Residents and tourists enjoy following the "Rock Map" published in Desert Messenger each issue, 

voting for the People's Choice Award at each location.

If you fall in love with a Rock Art Piece, be sure to attend the

"Rock Auction" held Saturday, March 2nd, 2013.

This live auction is always a fun event!!

PNQ is always looking for volunteers to help during the weeks of Oct. 20th -Nov. 2nd while the artists are painting. Through our Volunteer Equity Program, volunteer time equals points, which equals dollars donated to the organization of your choice. In the past few years, Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite has donated to over a dozen local charities.
